It's completely normal to have questions about whether therapy is right for you. Therapy can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, such as managing stress, improving relationships, and coping with more serious mental health issues. If you're considering therapy, it might be helpful to think about what you hope to gain from it. Are you looking for support during a difficult time, strategies to manage anxiety or depression, or perhaps a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings or past trauma? Therapy can offer you tools and insights to help you address these challenges and work towards your goals.
I believe that therapy is most effective when there is a good fit between therapist and client. If you're unsure whether therapy is right for you, I recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss your concerns and see if we might be a good fit to work together. Ultimately, the decision is yours, and I'm here to support you in whatever choice you make.

The frequency of your therapy sessions can depend on several factors, including your goals for therapy, the nature of the issues you're facing, and your preferences. In general, most clients find it beneficial to attend therapy on a weekly basis, especially in the beginning stages of therapy. Weekly sessions can help us establish a strong therapeutic relationship, explore your concerns in depth, and develop effective strategies for addressing them.
As you progress in therapy and begin to see improvements, we may adjust the frequency of your sessions. Some clients find that they can move to biweekly or monthly sessions as they work towards their goals, while others prefer to continue with weekly sessions for ongoing support and guidance.

Virtual therapy, also known as teletherapy, allows us to have our therapy sessions remotely, using video conferencing or phone calls. To start, we'll schedule our sessions just like we would for in-person therapy. I'll send you a secure link or phone number to connect to our session at the scheduled time. You do need to be present in Arizona during the time of the session.

Yes, therapy is confidential, which means that the information you share with me is kept private and will not be disclosed to others without your consent. This confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship and is intended to create a safe and trusting environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns.
However, there are some exceptions to confidentiality that I am legally obligated to follow. These exceptions include situations where there is an immediate threat of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order requiring disclosure of information.
I take confidentiality very seriously and will only disclose information when absolutely necessary and in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please feel free to discuss them with me.

During your first therapy appointment, we'll start by discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll ask you some questions to get to know you better, such as your personal history, current challenges, and goals for therapy.
We'll also talk about how therapy works, including confidentiality, the therapeutic process, and what you can expect from me as your therapist. This is also a good time for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy or the therapeutic process.
By the end of the session, we'll work together to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to start building a therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration.

There are some insurance companies that may restrict the services you can get for numerous reasons. Some of these restrictions include the length of the sessions, frequency, and total amount of sessions. This can greatly impact the overall effectiveness of your treatment, and may even cause additional stress for you. Being a private/self pay client, there will be no limitations on the services you receive. You are in total control of the frequency of sessions and length of time you want to be in therapy.
Another benefit to being private/self pay is confidentiality due to no information being shared with insurance companies. Some individuals prefer to keep their mental health private and can feel confident in the confidentiality of their sessions. Private pay also does not require the need for a diagnosis. There are times in which an individual needs support through a life stressor, but does not necessarily qualify for a diagnosis. If they were to try and use their insurance, they may be denied or restricted services and/or require them to get diagnosed with a qualifying mental health disorder. Being private pay, you can avoid these limitations to your care.
If you are interested in my services and want to submit to your insurance for Out of Network coverage, I can provide you a Superbill to submit. Please feel free to ask me more about this.
